Our first tests is engaged with the speed of the CD-ROM drive. The Cyberdrive 482D yields to the following benchmarks:

Here are the important speedvalues for this drive in direct compare. The ROMarks, which are valued by the access time



and the exact average speed valued by the transfer rate

The graphics show, that the drive has no problems with CD-Rs. Other drives, as the Mitsumi FX 4820 for example, have enormous problems with CD-Rs and the speed decreases up to 80%. In the test the Cyberdrive 482D is faster at blue CD-Rs than at the original CD. The minimum access times are smaller at CD-Rs than at the Original CD. But the Average speed for Original CDs is a little bit small with 19-fold. The Mitsumi-drive (a 48-speed too) reaches a value of 24,3-fold.
The Cyberdrive is a very balanced drive, that distinguishes with its constance irrespective of the CD-type. This aspect is very positive.
The error correcting ability of the drive is very good, too. The drive switches fast to a lower speed and increases the speed after the error. This behaviour is ideal. The benchmarks underline this fact. We cannot establish a deficit.

Copy of an Original CD:

In this testfeature we copied a full CD to the harddisk drive and stopped the required time. The work of the drive is excellent. It needs 3 min 33 sec, a really toptime. The drive works audible fast and copies many small files in a little time. In comparison with the Mitsumi drive (nominal same high speed) it is about 5 minutes faster! This is really an excellent result.

Summary:

In the speed section the Cyberdrive 482D belongs to the top drives. A little corporal defect is the low average speed at Original CDs, but in the rest it delivers constant very good values and impresses with a fast CD-copy to the harddisk drive. It is general noticed, that the drive gets soon very loud. This is a criterion for that it gets soon to high speeds and therefore delivers good values
